Can I ask for a home visit?

Please note that a  home visit is not an automatic right. However, if you are too ill to get to the surgery and think you need a home visit, it is very important to ring early in the morning.  When you or your carer informs the receptionist that you think a home visit is needed, your details will be taken and the call passed on to our triage nurses.  The nurse will then make an assessment of your case and, if a home visit is assessed as being necessary, the nurse will arrange for the visit to be done by the On-Call GP.

Wherever possible we encourage patients to attend the surgery as the facilities, lighting and equipment available in the surgery are far better than those available for home visits.
